Soulties
Mini Anthology Comic Series
Soulties is an experimental mini comic series meant for Instagram audiences. The series is about the relationships we hold throughout our lifetimes, and how we can only truly live when we walk in honesty and sincerity to ourselves and to others. The series follows a simple design pattern, with a minimal color palette and an intentional decision to leave out the greater features of each character’s face. While each character has a distinct silhouette, my goal was to allow space for the audience to imagine themselves in these situations.
The first section of Soulties was meant to be a glimpse into what it feels like to have tough conversations. When desire and fact fail to line up, when we finally stop pretending and decide to face life head-on.
With Section 2, I wanted to explore a different type of relationship, a friendship based on credentials instead of true connection. I wanted to explore how these types of relationships make us question our true value, and whether we can be trusted to determine such a thing with clouded minds.
